Episode 2 - Autism May or May Not Be Hilarious

Finally, a whole two weeks after our first release, we bestow unto you the second episode of our legendary podcast.

This show's topics include epic raids, our adventures into our local malls, conundrums that will blow your mind, odd biological theories, senility, Alex Trebek (not really), and why we probably shouldn't be allowed to use the internet. Also of note, the song chosen for this week is nothing short of amazing.

While it looks a lot like we have decided on a bi-weekly release schedule, don't take the current pattern to heart; we're still feeling things out and things could always change (for better or for worse.)

Like last time, a direct download can be found for this episode here or you can add us to iTunes or another feed catcher using the buttons (or 'chicklets' as I'm told they're called) to the right. Also, you can tell all your friends that we can now be found in the iTunes store. Just search "Abort Mission" and we should be right there.

This Station is Non-Operational

Sorry folks. Episode 2 is going to be delayed slightly this week. Between midterms, assignments, and the lack of an available guest at the moment, we haven't been able to get together to push out another show yet.

We will get back to it as soon as we can, though. Look out for the next episode sometime this weekend, or the middle of next week by the latest.

I would just like to tell everyone, regardless of if people read this or not, that we may or may not have a recurring guest doing dramatic readings of female myspace pages.

oh yeah, and we GOT APPROVED MOTHAFUCKS

Episode 1 - Literacy is Not a Priority

The first episode is finally done, uploaded, and ready to go. It took a little longer than anticipated, but we're still getting used to the process so bear with us.

In this show we discuss several things such as the best music from last year; interesting theories regarding heartbeats, brain hardening, and the passage of time; the present and future of credit cards; trailblazing simulation games of old; and beavers. We also take the opportunity to listen to a song from a common favourite band of ours.

Hopefully this podcast will be the first of many; we'll keep you posted on any news regarding future shows.

You can download the show directly here or you can add us to iTunes or another feed catching app of your choice using the buttons on the right.

...And out come the wolves

I suppose I'd better explain the content of the podcast itself. I've convinced Fritz, a good friend of mine, to co-host the podcast with me—and a bunch of regular guests to jump on whenever they're available. We'll talk mostly of whatever comes to mind, and if there's nothing in particular to talk about we'll just make something up; as everyone on the internet knows, it's not so much vital that something is "fact" as long as it it truthy.

If we feel so inclined, we'll likely drop in a little bit of music near the end of each show. Only independent music, of course, since the RIAA are always looking for ways to crush poor hobby podcasts—and playing unlicensed music is enough to cue their lawyers, corporate voodoo, and witchcraft. This suits us fine though, since a strong majority of RIAA-owned music is rubbish anyway. This also presents an opportunity for any independent musical artists to have their work on our show; we'll listen to anything that's sent in and, if we think it's any good, we'll play it "on-air."

This blog is where I'll post any quick thoughts between shows, interesting stories, photos or videos, and of course announce the release of any new episodes. Fritz should also be posting occasionally, if I can persuade him to get off his arse, and you may see something from one of the other hosts as well.

We're going to try the best we can to put out a new episode every week, but keep in mind that we're mostly all university students and this may not always be possible.

And finally: any questions, comments, or nude photographs can be sent to abortmissionshow at gmail dot com.

Hey, they might make an action figure out of you too, someday.

I've decided to start a podcast.

Now, I hear all of you saying "Why on earth would you do such a thing?" Well, boredom mostly. But there does exist a more profound reason (or should I say excuse) for spending my own free time blathering to a cheap radio shack microphone.

You may recall the recent Time Magazine article where they announced their pick for "person of the year": Me. Now of course they didn't call me by name, but I didn't see anybody else in the room when I read the article so I'm sure it was safe to assume.

Unless they meant to shout at my roommate in the kitchen, in which case I thoroughly apologise for this entire affair.

In the article, Time cited my various contributions to the latest fad: user-submitted content. This is—like weblogs, youtube, digg, flickr, and (god forbid) myspace—when a majority of what you see on any given interweb site comes from the readers or viewers, rather than some posh editor with a cigar and a bowler. Regrettably, however, I have personally done very little to support this bold new direction of the information supertube. Sure I dugg a few stories and gave feedback to a podcast or two, but I'm quite worried that I'm making those nice men (and women) at Time Magazine look foolish for not selecting someone with more influence. Instead of humbly suggesting that they do just that, I have decided to take up the challenge and make them proud (and hopefully, prevent the poor bastards from being fired.)

So this is my great contribution to the big dumptruck that is the internet. If I manage to interest just one person... well, that would be quite disappointing. Ten, or even a hundred people?

Now we're talking.
